ALBERT BARROCAS, MD, FACS

Albert Barrocas MD, FACS, is the Chief Medical Officer of South Fulton Medical Center in East Point, Georgia since January 2006. Prior to his relocation to Atlanta, he had been in the private practice of General, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery and Nutrition for thirty years in New Orleans.

Dr. Barrocas was the Chief Medical Officer at Methodist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1988 to 2005. He also served as a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Nutrition in the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and Clinical Professor of Surgery and Nutrition in the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He has served as the past President of the Louisiana/Mississippi Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, The American Society of Nutritional Support Services, as well as a past public Member-at-Large Board of Directors for the American Dietetic Association where he was selected as an honorary member in 1993. Dr. Barrocas also served as a member of the Louisiana State Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition and worked as Chairman of the Louisiana State Medical Society, CME Accreditation Committee.

Dr. Barrocas received both his BA and MD from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, while following up with his residency at Emory and the USAF Medical Center at Keesler Air Force Base. He has been sought after as a speaker and presenter on nutrition and has appeared on CBS News and the FOX Network. Dr. Barrocas has over 130 works published to his name.
