SHARON COX, MS, RD, CDE

Sharon Cox, MS, RD, CDE is the Advanced Practice Dietitian at the Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, Texas. Prior to her current experience at the Parkland Health & Hospital System she served as the Medical Laboratory Technician from 1983 to 1992, with a brief stint as Nutritionist at the Dallas Intertribal Health Center from 1992 to 1994.
Sharon has also held positions with the Dallas Dietetic Association, the Texas Dietetic Association and the National Organization of Blacks in Dietetics and Nutrition.

As a dietitian she provides medical nutrition for patients with a wide variety of disease states, teaches nutrition education classes, weigh management classes for children and adults, and diabetes education. Sharon has also volunteered her time at health fairs and presentations for local schools, churches and community organizations, as well as with the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, and Medical Ministry. She has also given her time developing recipes for the North Texas Food Bank.

Sharon received her B.S. in Biology at Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, followed by a B.S. in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Texas. She obtained her Masters of Science in Food and Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.
