Advisory Board Bios
JANICE DODDS, Ed.D., R.D.
Janice Dodds is a professor at the University of North Carolina Department of Nutrition. Dr. Dodds' interests are in nutrition policy, leadership development and community nutrition education of preschool children and childcare workers.
Dr. Dodds has developed nutrition services in adolescent health, pediatric nutrition, dietetic education and national policy development. She has served as the director of the Bureau of Nutrition of New York State, where she worked on the implementation of the Five-Year Plan of the Food and Nutrition Policy Council. She has publications in the areas of dietary guidance, graduate public health nutrition education, nutrition surveillance and program implementation.
Dr. Dodds teaches courses in program planning and evaluation and maternal and
child health and is also co-director of the Carolina Community Health Scholar
Program. She has served as president of the Society for Nutrition Education, as
president of the Association of Faculties of Graduate Programs in Public Health
Nutrition, on the Committee on the Implementation of the Dietary Guidelines
for the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences, Institute
of Medicine and as chair of the Subcommittee of Health Promotion and Disease
Prevention of the North Carolina Institute Child Health Task Force. She currently
serves as co-chair of the Advisory Committee in Public Policy and Society for
Nutrition Education and as chair of the Curriculum Committee of the Association
of Graduate Programs in Public Health Nutrition.
