PHILIP LAWLER
Currently Phil serves as the District Coordinator of Physical Education for the Naperville School District 203 in Naperville, Illinois. He has also served as the Institute Director of PE4Life since 2001, where he is responsible for hosting the annual conference and the annual weeklong summer physical education technology workshop. During his first three years at the PE4Life Institute he has trained over 400 physical education teachers from 24 different states.
As a teacher at Madison Junior High School, Phil Lawler’s Physical Education curriculum was rated #1 curriculum above all academic subjects in a parent survey in 2001. The new physical education curriculum was also featured in media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Time Magazine, Newsweek, US News and World Report, Washington Post, PBS, CBS News, and CNN. Phil Lawler has also received numerous distinguished awards for his efforts in physical education, including Teacher of the Year by the Naperville School District in 2000, the Illinois Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 1999 (given by the IAPERD), member of the USA Today’s First Team All-American Teaching Team in 2002. Lawler’s P.E. program was recognized as one of six Model Physical Education Programs in the United States by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention in 1997, and has been visited by over 150 other school districts since 1998.
Phil Lawler, received his B.A. in Physical Education and History at Buena
Vista University, and his Masters of Education at Northern Illinois University.
