ABOUT ACFN

The American Council for Fitness and Nutrition (ACFN) is a nonprofit organization that brings together food and beverage companies, associations and nutrition advocates to work toward viable long-term solutions to the nation’s obesity epidemic. ACFN represents a diverse group of organizations and is guided by an advisory board of experts in the fields of nutrition, physical activity and behavior change.

ACFNACFN collaborates with health professionals, educators, policy-makers and others on comprehensive and sustainable approaches to reducing and preventing obesity. Specifically, ACFN

  • Seeks to highlight the individuals and organizations that are empowering people to make positive choices and sustainable changes to live a more balanced, healthy life;
  • Serves as an information resource to health professionals, educators, policy-makers and others who are dedicated to improving health and wellness; and
  • Generates awareness of research that focuses on sustainable solutions that help Americans embrace and maintain healthier lifestyles.

Appendix B at the back of this report lists the members of the ACFN Advisory Board. Appendix C lists the members of ACFN. ACFN was founded by the food and beverage industry in 2003.
