Posted January 27, 2006

The American Society for Nutrition (ASN), the premier scientific society for clinical nutritionists in medicine and the health sciences, has joined ACFN’s Advisory Board. With a wealth of knowledge and background on food and nutrition issues and food safety, Sandra Schlicker, Ph.D., of ASN, will be a noble asset to ACFN’s board of experts.

Dr. Schlicker is the associate director for clinical nutrition and external fundraising affairs for ASN. Until recently, she served as Executive Officer of the American Society for Clinical Nutrition, which has merged with ASN.

“In bringing together our nation’s leading thinkers on the obesity issue we are delighted to welcome Dr. Schlicker and ASN to our Advisory Board. Her expertise and enthusiasm will help build momentum as we spring forward in our 2006 initiatives,” said ACFN Chair Susan Finn Ph.D., R.D., L.D., F.A.D.A.

Currently Dr. Schlicker is an active member of the American Dietetic Association, American Society of Nutrition Scientists and Society for Nutrition Education. She has authored numerous nutrition articles in professional and consumer publications. In 2005, President Bush appointed Dr. Schlicker to the Advisory Committee of the White House Conference on Aging. Washington, D.C., Mayor Williams also appointed her to his Commission on Food and Nutrition and his Commission on National and Community Service.
