ACFN Contributes to Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Health Initiative
Posted February 22, 2006

On January 28 in Miami, Fla., Congressman Kendrick B. Meek and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) launched the Black Health Empowerment Project, a local, community-based obesity education and health-promotion initiative designed to educate African-Americans about the relationship between obesity and chronic health conditions.

ACFN contributed background information on ACFN’s mission, a list of ACFN Advisory Board and Executive Board members, recent media clips and a nutrition guide entitled “Charting a Healthy Course” for participants at the event. Dr. Susan Finn, ACFN chair, said, "With one of our biggest priorities in 2006 being a focus on at-risk communities, this was a perfect event to make our information and message available. These types of events are invaluable to improving the level of health and wellness in communities across the country, and I look forward to working with Congressman Meek and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in the future to continue this effort."
