ACFN Participates in BlueCross BlueShield Walking Works Event on Capitol Hill
Posted June 30, 2006

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association’s (BCBSA) 2006 WalkingWorks®Capitol Hill and National Governors Association (NGA)/Governors Challenge and Health Fair was held on Friday, June 23 on Capitol Hill. The health fair launched the six-week WalkingWorks Capitol Hill and NGA/Governors Challenge, which is dedicated to encouraging the public to walk 30 minutes a day on five or more days, or 10,000 steps daily.

For its third year, ACFN participated by hosting a booth where health and wellness materials were exhibited, along with a portion size demonstration. “The Walking Works event is always a great way to reach Capitol Hill staffers and Congressional members, and I’m glad to say there was a great turnout for the event,” said Susan Finn, Ph.D., R.D., L.D., F.A.D.A., chair, ACFN. “Despite the strong Washington D.C. summer heat, folks came out in great numbers to sample tasty breakfast foods and beverages, and take part in massages, stretching and a great walk.” Event participants were joined by Jillian Michaels, strength trainer and life coach on NBC’s hit series, The Biggest Loser.
