and Beverage Industry Releases 2006 Health and Wellness Report The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), a founding member of ACFN, released its 2006 Industry Report on Health and Wellness in mid June. The Industry Report on Health and Wellness demonstrates the industry’s commitment to combating obesity. Food and beverage companies are developing and marketing more better-for-you foods; making portion control easier; investing in community programs that promote good nutrition and physical activity habits; and providing their employees with resources for creating healthful lifestyles. Based in large part on a GMA member company survey, the Industry Report on Health and Wellness details some of the innovative programs food and beverage companies have launched in the past several years. “In the coming months and years, I am confident that these initiatives will continue to grow. In finding sustainable solutions to the nation’s obesity epidemic the battle can only be won with input and action from all stakeholders,” said Susan Finn, chair, ACFN. GMA advances the interests of the food, beverage and consumer products industry on key issues that affect the ability of brand manufacturers to market their products profitably and deliver superior value to the consumer.
