AMERICAN COUNCIL FOR FITNESS AND NUTRITION JOINS WITH THE PARTNERSHIP FOR PLAY EVERY DAY
ACFN to be voice in ensuring kids get 60 minutes of play every day
The American Council for Fitness and Nutrition (ACFN) is proud to announce joining The Partnership for Play Every Day, a newly founded public-private-non-profit sector collaboration between YMCA of the USA, National Recreation and Park Association and National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
ACFN is excited to work with the newly formed Partnership as they advance policies, programs and practices that ensure all children and youth engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day, which goes hand in hand with ACFN’s mission to work toward viable long-term solutions to the nation’s obesity epidemic.
“This is an ideal relationship as both our organization’s priorities are to advance realistic solutions to address the childhood obesity epidemic. Much work remains to be done as we face this serious epidemic and we look forward to working with the Partnership to collectively tackle inactivity in our children,” said Sue Finn, CEO, ACFN.
Over the past four years, ACFN has collaborated with health professionals, educators and policy-makers on comprehensive and sustainable approaches to preventing and reducing rates of obesity. An immediate contribution ACFN will make to the Partnership is two authoritative blueprints for African-American and Hispanic community leaders on how to build, expand and promote programs designed to help families adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles. Healthy Families, Healthy Communities, A Blueprint for Action; Mi Pueblo….Mi Familia and Community Connect were written by well-known experts in the field of nutrition and health, and members of the American Dietetic Association working group. The Hispanic blueprint is also translated into Spanish in order to extend its reach in communities.
